Land an Water Management Plan Areas
Renmark to the Border Local Action Planning Association's area covers
four distinct Land and Water Management Plans (LWMPs): Merriti,
Ral Ral, Pike River, and Murtho. Pike River and Murtho have been
part of a recent regional case study, and had their LWMPs upgraded
in 2006 (see below).

The implementation of the Murtho and Pike River Land and
Water Management Plans is overseen by their steering committees:
Murtho Road Irrigators
Association; and The Pike
River Land
Management Group, respectively. These groups are both
sub-committees of the Renmark to the Border Local Action Planning
Association. The LWMP Implementation Officer, employed by the
LAP, with support from SAMDBNRMB, provides executive support to these
groups.

Land
and Water Management Plan Upgrades
November 2006 saw the
completion of the upgraded Murtho Strategic Environment Initiative
(SEI), and the upgraded Pike River Land and Water Management Plan
(LWMP). These are comprehensive documents that look at the regions
geographical properties, economy, threats and remediation options that
have been identified by the local community.
The Murtho SEI covers the area north from Paringa along the Murtho Road
to the Victorian border.
The Pike River LWMP covers the area east from Paringa along the Sturt
Highway, along the Loxton-Paringa road and incorporates Lyrup and Lyrup
Heights.
